Ever since I joined the Marine Corps back in 1988, I always wanted to restore a WWII combat jeep. After years of putting it off, I finally found an early 1942 Ford Script at the right price. It's going to be a long road to get this back to original form, but that's what a full restoration is all about.
I believe this to be an original Marine GPW as I was fortunate to find forest green paint throughout vs. OD. Being a Former Marine, it would have been hard for me to put together an Army project. No offense to the Army of coarse. It's simply a Marine Pride thing... My goal is for this to be an authentic representation of a Marine GPW that participated in The Battle Of Okinawa. The most fiercest battle that took place in the Pacific. Since I was stationed in Okinawa for a year and served with the Combat Engineers, the history of that battle has meaning to me. Almost 8000 fellow Marines lost their lives on the Island and hopefully I'll be able to bring this project back to life... Semper Fi!
To date, I've gone through 16 complete GPW's just to build this one Script. Using only the very best parts I've pulled from other projects, this GPW will be a complete and a show condition Ford. It's not much in the picture you see here, but when it's done, it will be one of the most complete early Script GPW's you will find. Every part will be correct, as well as every nut and bolt. And yes, as soon as it's complete, it is for sale!
